Weekly Giveaway (5/4)

“Find out how much God has given you and from it take what you need; the remainder is needed by others.” – St. Augustine

Because I’ve built up a large collection of extra books and resources, each week I give away one or more, absolutely free, no strings attached.

Each giveaway lasts seven days with a new one beginning each Friday, so you can enter any time during the week. Check out a list of past giveaways items here.

My Peace I Give You: Healing Sexual Wounds with the Help of the Saints
by Dawn Eden

This week’s giveaway includes TWO brand new copies of My Peace I Give You: Healing Sexual Wounds with the Help of the Saints by Dawn Eden. On Tuesday I posted an excerpt from the book, and I also interviewed Dawn yesterday.

When I began the book, I could hardly put it down. Dawn shows how the saints provide spiritual aid to any suffering, and she proves that through her own journey. Here’s the publisher’s description:

“Dawn Eden, internationally known speaker and author of the bestselling The Thrill of the Chaste, shows how the lives of the saints have given her hope and aided her journey of spiritual healing after childhood sexual abuse. One in four American women and one in six American men report having been sexually abused during childhood and My Peace I Give You: Healing Sexual Wounds with the Help of the Saints provides a much-needed resource for spiritual healing from the isolating effects of these wounds.

Eden uses her own story as a backdrop to introduce numerous holy people—like Laura Vicuna, Thomas Aquinas and Bernard of Clairvaux—who suffered sexual abuse or sexual inappropriateness, as well as saints such as Ignatius of Loyola who suffered other forms of mistreatment and abandonment. Readers seeking wholeness will discover saints with wounds like their own, whose stories bear witness to the transforming power of grace. Eden explores different dimensions of divine love—sheltering, compassionate, purifying, etc.—to help those sexually wounded in childhood understand their identity in the abiding love of Christ.”

In order to win this week’s giveaway, leave a comment below answering this question:

Why do you want to read this book?

The winning comments will be randomly selected on Friday morning using a random number generator, and the giveaway will be sent out, free-of-charge, shortly thereafter to the three winners.
In the future I’ll be giving away many more books and resources–sometimes multiple items per giveaway. So check back next Friday!

Update: The drawing is closed for the week of Friday, May 4. Congratulations to Don G. and Susan for winning this week! Check your e-mail for instructions on receiving the book. If you don’t see an e-mail from me, check your spam box–apparently e-mails with “giveaway” in the subject line often end up there.
