Babies, Books, and Bumblings

Our first child, Isaiah Martin Vogt, has finally made the transition from the womb of his mother to the womb of Heaven, our precious Earth. We pray that God grows him into a man with a voice and heart like those of his namesakes–a man who will speak up for those with no voice and one who would rather die than see one suffer a life disconnected from the source of true Life.

Ever since his arrival began looming, writing here has been lite and sporadic. However, it will begin to pick up over the coming weeks.

I have been sent a couple of books to review, each of which I think will offer pictures of what life would like as a person transformed by Jesus. The one I am particular excited about digging into was written by the President of World Vision, Richard Stearns. It’s title, “The Hole In Our Gospel”, refers to a major component lacking in the Americanized, modern Gospel we’ve spun: the care for poor, the orphaned, and the widow. I will be sure to talk more about it as soon as I finish.
