Two WYD Videos that will Give You Chills

As a Catholic of just five years, I've never been to World Youth Day (WYD). But I'm sure I'll take our kids in the future. The bi-annual celebration radiates with such power that it's palpable even across oceans. Millions of fired-up young people, hundreds of Church leaders, and the vicar of Christ on Earth, all gathered to worship Jesus Christ—that's the right recipe for an explosion of faith.

Watch these two WYD promo videos produced by Grassroots Films, the talented group behind The Human Experience. One is for WYD 2011 in Madrid, and the other for next year's WYD in Rio de Janeiro.

Crank up your speakers and let your heart soar:

Have you ever been to World Youth Day?

WYD is so far beyond those videos and is the greatest gift you can give a young person - to see that they are part of the universal church, and to have them pray with the Holy Father. Life-changing.

I went to World Youth Day as a teen when it was in Denver. I got to see JPII! I wish I knew the significance of the whole experience. II was not in the same place of my spiritual journey as I am now. I only went because my uncle who is a priest said that one of the girls in his parish would only go if I went as well, because we were friends.

Those videos are great. Anyone who is interested can find even more World Youth Day videos on my blog:

I went to World Youth Day in Madrid and it has been a great experience. Almost too great to comprehend, and one I only begun to understand after I returned home. It was hot and tiring, but I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

I guess I don't have to tell you, Brandon, that you are missing out. So I won't.
    :P

I hope someday that my husband and I can go as a couple to WYD, but we're already too old to sleep on the ground, which is the fun way to go.

Sydney! Yes, I was there too... with my wife, didn't sleep on the ground either!

The Pope stayed at the Opus Dei Conference (Kenthurst Study Centre) centre for a few days before WYD, what an honour for OD!

I took a group of 28 to Toronto...It was hot, tiring, full of strange foods and large groups of foreign speaking youth...It was the most amazing week of my life and I hope to bring another group of youth to experience the reality of their universal Church in the future. Nothing says Jesus like 400,000 youth filled with life and gathering to share that life with one another!

I went to Rome in 2000. It was amazing. I didn't mind roughing it and sleeping on the ground, not being able to shower in that field for 3 days. I truly felt like a pilgrim and a part of something great.

I'm 62 ... way too old for any "youth" day. Besidse, it looks alot like woodstock to me
