“Find out how much God has given you and from it take what you need; the remainder is needed by others.” – St. Augustine
Because I’ve built up a large collection of duplicate books and resources, each week I’m giving away one or more of these items, absolutely free, no strings attached.
You can enter anytime during each week for that week’s giveaway, with a new giveaway beginning each Friday. To see a list of past giveaways, go here.
This week’s giveaway is an early copy of A People of Hope: Archbishop Timothy Dolan in Conversation with John Allen Jr, which isn’t officially released until November 1.
Allen is widely regarded as the world’s best English-speaking journalist covering the Catholic Church, and Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, is one of America’s most important Catholic leaders. Dolan’s warmth and intelligence shine throughout the book which also reveals his take on many hot-button issues in the Catholic Church. Here is a snippet from my recent review:
“Throughout A People of Hope, Dolan handles other contentious issues with the same clarity and grace. I finished the book feeling deeply satisfied that God has provided just the right guy to lead the American Church–“Rudy Giuliani, Abraham Lincoln, and Saint Paul all rolled into one,” according to Allen. For a Church in need of bold and faithful leadership, he really is the right person at the right time.
A People of Hope is a must-read book for anyone interested in this important American leader or in the future of the Catholic Church.”
In order to win this week’s giveaway, leave a comment below answering this question:
What pastor, preacher, priest, or bishop has most impacted your life and in what way?
The winning comment will be randomly selected on Friday morning using a random number generator, and the giveaway item(s) will be sent out, free-of-charge, shortly thereafter.
In the future I’ll be giving away many more books and resources–sometimes multiple items per giveaway. So check back next Friday!
Update: The drawing is closed for the week of Friday, October 21. Congratulations to Jimmie O. for winning this week! Check your e-mail for instructions on receiving the book. If you don’t see an e-mail from me, check your spam box–apparently e-mails with “giveaway” in the subject line often end up there.
