Book News and Notes

Well, The Church and New Media was officially released on Wednesday, though Amazon still says it’s not yet available.

The kink should be fixed soon but in the meantime you can still order the paperback or download the Kindle eBook and start reading immediately.

Here are three great reasons to download the eBook. While you’re at it, you should also check out this list of other free and cheap Catholic eBooks.

Here are some other book-related links and notes:

– This afternoon, at 3:20pm, I’ll be interviewed on “The Catholics Next Door” radio show. If you have SiriusXM radio, tune in to The Catholic Channel (channel 129).

Jennifer Fulwiler, writer and blogger extraordinaire, mentions the book over at her National Catholic Register blog. She specifically focuses on a section of the book where Marcel LeJeune notes how technology has shriveled the warm, welcoming community at Texas A&M University. It’s a great read.

Our Sunday Visitor has informed me that they are sending a gratis copy of the book to *every* active bishop in the country. Since my goal was to get the Church to start engaging new media–especially her institutional arm–this is fantastic news. I hope many bishops find the book both informative and compelling.

A Communications professor at the Franciscan University of Steubenville has revealed that he will be assigning The Church and New Media for three of his classes this fall. How exciting!
