March for Life 2011

In light of Saturday’s anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton court decisions that effectively legalized abortion in almost every case, today hundreds of thousands of pro-life supporters have gathered for marches across the nation. Elizabeth Scalia has a mega-post on the marches which is worth checking out.

Also, Fr. Robert Barron–a favorite here, if you can’t tell–has written a timely article on the shocking New York abortion statistics. It recently came to light that 41% of all New York pregnancies end in abortion, a truly alarming stat. Archbishop Dolan gave a rousing speech in response to this number a couple of weeks ago, and now its Fr. Barron’s turn.

Fr. Barron hasn’t written much on abortion in the past, yet here he does so with force. In his piece, he laments what he considers to be “the most compelling moral issue of our time” (a sentiment I share).

May the cause for life move wider and deeper!
