Weekly Giveaway (5/13)

“Find out how much God has given you and from it take what you need; the remainder is needed by others.” – St. Augustine

Because I’ve built up a large collection of duplicate books and resources, each week I’m giving away one or more of these items, absolutely free, no strings attached. You can enter anytime during each week for that week’s giveaway, with a new giveaway beginning each Friday. To see a list of past giveaways, go here.

This week’s giveaway is a copy of Hilaire Belloc’s How the Reformation Happened. If you haven’t read anything by Belloc, this is a great place to start. Besides being a renowned historian, Belloc was a close friend and fellow essayist of G.K. Chesterton. In a nod to their similarities, atheist George Bernard Shaw famously nicknamed the duo Chesterbelloc.

Here is some information about this particular book from Amazon:

Two historical problems are of prime importance to our race. To understand them sufficiently is to understand ourselves. To misapprehend them is to misapprehend our own nature: what made our culture and what threatens to destroy it. The first of these problems is the conversion of the Roman Empire to Catholicism. How came the pagan world to be baptized? What made Christendom? The second is the disaster of the 16th century. How came Christendom to suffer shipwreck? What made the Reformation? It is the second question which Belloc approaches in this book.

To enter to win, fill out your name and e-mail address in the form below. None of your information will ever be given out, and I will only use it to contact the winner. The winner will be selected on Friday morning using a random generator, and the giveaway item(s) will be sent out, free-of-charge, shortly thereafter.

In the future, I will be giving away books, CD’s, and DVD’s, sometimes more than one item per giveaway. Check back next Friday!

(One entry per person, please. The deadline for each entry will be 11:59pm each Friday. Since I’m covering the shipping costs, only residents within the continental United States will be eligible to win.)

Update: The drawing is closed for the week of Friday, 05/13. Congratulations to Ben R. for winning this week! Check your e-mail for instructions on receiving the book (if you don’t see an e-mail from me, check your spam box–apparently e-mails with “giveaway” in the subject line often end up there.)

And check the blog for the next giveaway!
