"The Church and New Media" – News, Interviews, and a Snuggie

In just five days, The Church and New Media will finally hit the shelves, and I’m beyond excited to get its message out.

Our Sunday Visitor has informed me that the paperback books have all been printed and shipped to their warehouse, while the eBook is close to being uploaded to Amazon.

Also, as many people have asked, the eBook should be available in a number of eBook formats–including ePub–so the Kindle version won’t be your only option.

In terms of promotion, I’ve already done a handful of interviews but here’s what’s coming up in the next few days:

Tonight at 8:20pm ET (Friday, 7/29) I’ll be on “The Busted Halo Show” with Fr. Dave Dwyer. You can listen live on SiriusXM radio by tuning in to The Catholic Channel (ch. 129). I’m not sure if the interview will be archived, but it might be available later in case you miss it.

I’m sure one of the things we’ll discuss is how new media can be used to connect with young people. Busted Halo has really become the premier online website for Catholic young adults, and it’s due in large part to the way they use these tools. The site has numerous blogs, a handful of podcasts, and plenty of deep discussions involving seekers from all different backgrounds.

Tomorrow morning at 10:00am ET (Saturday, 7/30) I’ll be on SQPN’s “Catholic Weekend Show”. You can listen live through SQPN.com or download the archived episode later.

On the forefront of Catholic new media, SQPN hosts the annual Catholic New Media Celebration. They also feature dozens of great podcasts and blogs on everything from saints, to motherhood, to Harry Potter. So I’m sure it’ll be a rich conversation.

On Monday afternoon at 4:00pm ET (8/1) I’ll spend an hour with host Scot Landry on “The Good Catholic Life”. The show will be broadcast throughout Boston on 1060 am and you can also stream it live online (or download it later that night.)

Scot is the new media guru for the Archdiocese of Boston, one of the most tech-savvy dioceses in the world. He wrote a great chapter in The Church and New Media on using technology in your diocese so I’m really excited to talk with him.

Finally, to show that The Church and New Media will delight all genders and that it’s best enjoyed along with your favorite novelty blanket, I leave you with this:
