On the day of Pentecost, which occurred this past Sunday, there is an ancient tradition that takes place at the Pantheon in Rome, Italy. Alluding to the tongues of fire that came down from the sky, rose pedals are dropped from the hole (which I now understand to be called an ‘oculus’) at the top of the dome.
