Quick Logos Software Update

Two notes about the incredible Logos Bible software that I reviewed a few weeks ago:

1. Brent Stubbs’ review of the software. In Brent’s own comprehensive review, he explains how the software can help four different types of users: lay people, priests, academics, and catechists.

2. New cheaper Logos Catholic package. Many people have told me that they’re blown away by the software, but can’t afford the high price. And I get that. It’s really difficult to justify spending $500 or $800 on a piece of software. But thankfully, the people at Logos have heard the complaints and have introduced a lower-priced package.

The new Catholic Foundations Library is only $250 and despite the lower price, it’s still very robust. In the package you’ll find:

  • Six different Bible translations (including the RSV Catholic Edition, the NAB, and the Douay-Rheims)
  • All of the documents from Vatican II
  • Dozens of biblical commentaries and reference guides
  • The Catena Aurea (Commentary on the Gospels compiled by St. Thomas Aquinas)
  • The Summa Theologica by St. Thomas Aquinas
  • Scores of works by G.K. Chesterton, St. John of the Cross, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Francis de Sales, Blessed John Henry Newman and many more saints and theologians
