Weekly Giveaway (5/20)

“Find out how much God has given you and from it take what you need; the remainder is needed by others.” – St. Augustine

Because I’ve built up a large collection of duplicate books and resources, each week I’m giving away one or more of these items, absolutely free, no strings attached. You can enter anytime during each week for that week’s giveaway, with a new giveaway beginning each Friday. To see a list of past giveaways, go here.

This week’s giveaway is a copy of  Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense. The book is written by Anglican Bishop N.T. Wright, one of today’s most insightful Biblical scholars, and some have hailed it as a modern version of C.S. Lewis’ classic, Mere Christianity. Both books use beauty, metaphors, and stories to clearly communicate the basics of Christianity in a way that has appealed to both believers and non-believers alike. From Amazon:

Why is justice fair? Why are so many people pursuing spirituality? Why do we crave relationship? And why is beauty so beautiful? N. T. Wright argues that each of these questions takes us into the mystery of who God is and what he wants from us. For two thousand years Christianity has claimed to answer these mysteries, and this renowned biblical scholar and Anglican bishop shows that it still does today.

Like C. S. Lewis did in his classic Mere Christianity, Wright makes the case for Christian faith from the ground up, assuming that the reader is starting from ground zero with no predisposition to and perhaps even some negativity toward religion in general and Christianity in particular. His goal is to describe Christianity in as simple and accessible, yet hopefully attractive and exciting, a way as possible, both to say to outsides.

To enter to win, fill out your name and e-mail address in the form below. None of your information will ever be given out, and I will only use it to contact the winner. The winner will be selected on Friday morning using a random generator, and the giveaway item(s) will be sent out, free-of-charge, shortly thereafter.

In the future, I will be giving away books, CD’s, and DVD’s, sometimes more than one item per giveaway. Check back next Friday!

(One entry per person, please. The deadline for each entry will be 11:59pm each Friday. Since I’m covering the shipping costs, only residents within the continental United States will be eligible to win.)

Update: The drawing is closed for the week of Friday, 05/20. Congratulations to Robert W. for winning this week! Check your e-mail for instructions on receiving the book (if you don’t see an e-mail from me, check your spam box–apparently e-mails with “giveaway” in the subject line often end up there.)

And check the blog for the next giveaway!
