Weekly Giveaway (6/24)

“Find out how much God has given you and from it take what you need; the remainder is needed by others.” – St. Augustine

Because I’ve built up a large collection of duplicate books and resources, each week I’m giving away one or more of these items, absolutely free, no strings attached. You can enter anytime during each week for that week’s giveaway, with a new giveaway beginning each Friday. To see a list of past giveaways, go here.

This week’s giveaway is a really good one. It includes *three* books by one of my favorite saints, St. Josemaria Escriva, whose feast day we’ll celebrate this Sunday. The books are The Way, Furrow, and The Forge–almost a thousand pages from one of the twentieth century’s holiest teachers. Here is Amazon’s description of The Way:

Reflecting Josemaría Escrivá’s belief that God can be found in professional and everyday settings, The Way blends passages from sacred Scripture with anecdotes drawn from Escrivá’s life and work, snatches of conversation, and selections from his personal letters. The direct, conversational writing style and its deeply felt humanity are among the book’s main attractions and beautifully convey the belief that the human is not foreign to the divine and that the fully Christian spiritual attitude can be described as unity of life.

Since it was first published in 1939, more than four and a half million copies of The Way have been sold in forty-three different languages. This book takes it place alongside such seminal works as John of the Cross’s Dark Night of the Soul, Thomas à Kempis’s Imitation of Christ, and Teresa of Ávila’s The Interior Castle.

To enter to win, fill out your name and e-mail address in the form below. None of your information will ever be given out, and I will only use it to contact the winner. The winner will be selected on Friday morning using a random generator, and the giveaway item(s) will be sent out, free-of-charge, shortly thereafter.

In the future, I will be giving away books, CD’s, and DVD’s, sometimes more than one item per giveaway. Check back next Friday!

(One entry per person, please. The deadline for each entry will be 11:59pm each Friday. Since I’m covering the shipping costs, only residents within the continental United States will be eligible to win.)

Update: The drawing is closed for the week of Friday, 06/24. Congratulations to Megan A. for winning this week! Check your e-mail for instructions on receiving the book (if you don’t see an e-mail from me, check your spam box–apparently e-mails with “giveaway” in the subject line often end up there.)
