Weekly Giveaway (8/26)

“Find out how much God has given you and from it take what you need; the remainder is needed by others.” – St. Augustine

Because I’ve built up a large collection of duplicate books and resources, each week I’m giving away one or more of these items, absolutely free, no strings attached.

You can enter anytime during each week for that week’s giveaway, with a new giveaway beginning each Friday. To see a list of past giveaways, go here.

This week’s giveaway includes a brand new copy of a book I raved about last week, An Ocean Full of Angels by Dr. Peter Kreeft. Here’s a preview straight from Kreeft himself:

An Ocean Full of Angels is an angel’s-eye view of the connections between Jesus Christ, Muhammad, dead Vikings, sassy Black feminists, Dutch Calvinist seminarians, very large Mother-substitutes, armless nature-mystics, Caribbean rubber dancers, the Wandering Jew, angels in disguise, three popes in one year, Cortez, Romeo and Juliet, the sea serpent, our Lady of Guadalupe, the demon Hurricano, islam in the art of body surfing, the universal fate wave theory, the Palestinian intifadah, the fatal beauty of the sea, dreams of Jungian archetypes, the dooms of the Boston Red Sox, the abortion wars, the Great Blizzard of ’78, the wisdom of the ‘handicapped,’ the ecumenical jihad, the psychology of suicide, and the end of the world.

But that’s an oversimplification.”

The rules for the giveaway have changed just a little bit. Now to win, you have to do two things.

First, leave a comment below answering this question:

What is the most moving book you’ve ever read and why?

If Harry Potter brought tears to your eyes, tell me about it. If Green Eggs and Ham changed your life, I want to know. If The DaVinci Code drove you to a life of adventure and conspiracy, share your story. I mentioned that An Ocean Full of Angels was one of only two books that caused me to pray after finishing. Has any book affected you that way?

The second thing you need to do is enter your name and e-mail address in the form below, just as in past weeks. It’s the only way I’ll be able to contact the winner; none of your information will ever be given out or used for any other purpose.

In the future I’ll be giving away many more books and resources–sometimes multiple items per giveaway. So check back next Friday!

Update: The drawing is closed for the week of Friday, 08/26. Congratulations to Tom S. for winning this week! Check your e-mail for instructions on receiving the book. If you don’t see an e-mail from me, check your spam box–apparently e-mails with “giveaway” in the subject line often end up there.
